The year was 1968. I was fresh off the grueling Planet Of The Apes shoot and I had my sights set on a dynamic young starlet by the name of Shelley Duvall…
Oh, wait, that’s Charlton Heston’s bio.
Mine, not nearly so star studded.
Let’s start off by mentioning that I’m from West Virginia. There aren’t a whole heck of a lot of us who go from The Mountain State to a state so ripe with mountains so I like to own that right upfront. I’ve done radio off and on here in town for heap many moon. A good long stint at KBCO (back when it was across the street from the cow pasture on Riverbend Road for those that remember) and a very fun stretch at 96.5 The Peak.
Two kids, a lovely, overly tolerant lady and a couple of psychotic pets share my home. I have an unhealthy fascination with the Number 42 (thank you Douglas Adams) and I feel there hasn’t been a better songwriter in the last ten years than Ben Folds.
What Else? I tend to live my life by the ethos of Navin Johnson from The Jerk:
Lord loves a working man
See a doctor, get it fixed
Don’t trust Whitey
One of the smartest lines I’ve ever heard in a song is from Billy Bragg’s ‘Great Leap Forward’:
In a perfect world, we’d all sing in tune, but this is reality so give me some room.
As Lynne, Mark and I prove every morning, you don’t need a perfect voice to make your point, just the desire to use that voice. So if something strikes your fancy or is stuck in your craw (isn’t that a great euphemism?), don’t hesitate. Let us know. We can’t wait to hear what you’ll bring to the show.
